Isfahan Vase Bouquet Black

Isfahan has for centuries occupied the apex of Persian carpet weaving, its workshops producing compositions of extraordinary botanical precision and chromatic sophistication — the city's vase carpets in particular are regarded as the high-water mark of Safavid decorative art, commanding reverence in the world's foremost textile collections.

This piece interprets that tradition in a dramatic pictorial format: a commanding jet-black field serves as the ground for a tiered, gilded urn rendered with meticulous ornamental detail — banded, bulbous, and set upon a scrolled pedestal — from which erupts an extravagant bouquet of peonies, open roses, cornflowers, cherry blossoms, and feathery silver-grey foliage, the whole composition contained within an arched oval cartouche in the classical niche format.

The palette is deliberately theatrical: deep noir against warm gold and tawny amber, punctuated by blush pinks, rose reds, powder blues, and muted sage, achieving the luminous contrast characteristic of premium Isfahan workshop production. The multi-band border deploys arabesques, palmettes, and repeating floral rosettes in gold-on-black with an ivory inner guard stripe, providing formal containment without competing with the central spectacle. Offered as a bespoke, made-to-order piece available from 3×5 ft through to 12×18 ft, this is a collector-grade composition that commands a wall or a floor with equal authority — its nocturnal palette and horticultural opulence evoking the walled Persian garden translated into woven form.
