Reef Cartography draws its visual language from the layered architecture of a coral reef ecosystem — branching sea fans, brain coral formations, and soft anemone clusters are rendered in sculptural relief, each element overlapping and interlocking as though observed through still, clear water. The composition is deliberately organic and asymmetrical, with raised tufting creating a topographic depth that rewards close inspection: the branching black and taupe structures evoke gorgonian fans, while the lobed, rounded forms above suggest plate coral and lettuce weed swaying at depth. There is no imposed geometry here — only the rational logic of nature's own architecture.
As a wall-mounted textile artwork, Reef Cartography commands a large-format wall with the authority of a commissioned installation piece. Its irregular silhouette breaks the rigidity of architectural surfaces, lending interiors a sense of living, breathing movement.
