The contemporary designer rug workshops of Jaipur and Bhadohi in northern India have, over the past three decades, earned international recognition for their ability to translate avant-garde artistic vision into hand-tufted and hand-knotted pile with exceptional chromatic precision and material refinement.
This circular piece, presented in new condition, is constructed in a hand-knotted silk and wool blend and anchored by a deep black border that frames a sage green ground — a palette of deliberate restraint against which a single radial wreath of biomorphic petal-disc motifs unfolds.
Each unit in the ring alternates between warm earth tones — terracotta, gold ochre, blush — and cooler registers of dusty blue, teal, and ivory, with black semicircular accents that read as lunar phases, lending the composition a quietly cosmological rhythm. The absence of a traditional central medallion is intentional; the open sage field creates negative space that amplifies the wreath's rotation and draws the eye into an almost meditative stillness. The silk content catches light differentially across the pile, giving depth to what might otherwise read as a flat graphic form. This is a piece for considered interiors — one that bridges fine-art textile and functional floor covering with the confidence of a work intended to be the singular focal point of a room.
