The erased or 'distressed overdye' aesthetic draws from a century-old tradition of abrash — the natural tonal variation found in hand-woven Persian and Anatolian classical carpets — reimagined in the early 21st century as a deliberate design language that bridges heritage weaving and contemporary interiors.
This piece presents a central rosette medallion with elongated palmette pendants suspended on a wide, open field of muted slate grey, its surface treated with a wash technique that strips back colour selectively, producing a convincing illusion of age and use across the bamboo silk pile; the dominant palette moves between cool blue-grey at the centre and warmer taupe-brown at the borders and lower field, creating a natural abrash gradient.
