The weaving workshops of Bhadohi in Uttar Pradesh have for centuries served as India's most prolific centre of hand-knotted carpet production, absorbing Persian technical discipline and reinterpreting it through a distinctly contemporary commercial fluency that has earned global collector and interior design attention alike.
This runner presents a confident exercise in tonal restraint: an unbroken diamond trellis of small open lozenges connected at their intersections by minute four-pointed stars is woven consistently across the entire field, while the visual drama is achieved entirely through a horizontal ombre wash — ivory cream at both terminal ends deepening through cool slate grey into a saturated navy indigo band that anchors the centre third of the composition, then dissolving symmetrically back toward ivory at the opposite end, creating a diptych-like mirroring effect rarely executed with this degree of gradient control in hand-knotted wool.
There is no conventional border; the colour progression itself frames the piece. The pile is even and newly finished, the fringe short and straight at both short ends.
