The contemporary Indo-Tibetan hand-knotted tradition — flourishing across workshop centres in Jaipur and Kathmandu since the late twentieth century — has distinguished itself by marrying Western neoclassical and Art Deco design vocabulary with the technical rigour of Himalayan pile weaving, producing pieces of notable sculptural clarity and tonal restraint.

This 213x308 cm wool carpet presents an unbordered open field of warm olive khaki densely populated by an offset drop-repeat of baroque damask rosette medallions: each motif is rendered in ivory wool with fine warm-brown outlining, its composition built from layered acanthus scrollwork, feathered plume extensions, and a symmetrical floral core that reads simultaneously as a heraldic shield and an unfolding bloom.

The absence of a conventional border frame allows the repeat to appear self-generating, cropped at each edge as though the pattern continues beyond the weave — a deliberate modernist conceit. Knotted fringe finishes the top edge.
