The weaving ateliers of Isfahan and Kashan occupy the pinnacle of Persian carpet tradition, producing for centuries finely knotted wool rugs of exceptional structural discipline — their classical medallion grammar, courtly arabesque vocabularies, and precise border architectures have set the benchmark against which all Oriental rugs are measured.
This contemporary interpretation distills that heritage through a deliberate vintage-wash treatment: the central field is rendered in a softly abrash slate grey dissolving into ivory, its classical arabesques and palmette scrollwork intentionally faded as though worn smooth by generations of use, lending the surface a ghostly, atmospheric depth.
A single circular medallion anchors the composition — an ivory ground rosette of concentric petal rings enclosing a dark graphite floral core — surrounded by a field where motifs emerge and recede like ink bleeding into damp paper. The multi-line border system retains its structural rigidity in charcoal and graphite, its geometric meander and angular guard stripes providing sharp contrast to the dissolving interior. The fringe at both terminals confirms the hand-knotted construction, and the wool pile carries the tonal shifts with the richness only natural fibre allows.
