This new 210x305 cm piece presents a rigorous checkerboard composition of alternating plain and carved squares across a monochromatic silver-grey and warm ivory palette — a deliberate tonal restraint that allows the sculpted pile relief to generate its own visual tension; each patterned square carries a symmetrical four-fold scrolling rosette of curving vines and stylised leaves, rendered with clean articulation in the high-low carving, while the plain squares read as cool, flat fields of ribbed wool that anchor the rhythm of the design; no traditional border treatment is employed, allowing the grid to extend cleanly to the rug's edge in a distinctly modernist resolution.
