This large-format piece — measuring 219x305 cm in new condition — presents an unadorned camel-toned field of warm, tawny wool, its surface unmarked by medallion or repeat motif, framed by three concentric border bands that alternate ivory and camel in a quiet, architectural rhythm; the fringe along the upper edge is characteristic of the loomed finish typical of workshop production in the Kathmandu Valley tradition. The palette is drawn entirely from natural undyed or minimally processed wools — a muted biscuit centre against bone-white borders — suggesting an intentional restraint that aligns this piece with the modernist sensibility of late twentieth-century Tibetan export production.
