This new hand-knotted wool piece presents an expansive abstract field composition in which masses of slate grey and charcoal drift organically against a ground of warm ivory and sun-bleached taupe, the transitions between tones rendered with a deliberately fragmented, pixelated texture that evokes eroded fresco, aerial topography, or the surface of aged stone; the design carries no formal border, allowing the composition to breathe freely to the edges in a manner consistent with contemporary painterly rugs, while the matte wool pile imparts a tactile depth that photographs cannot fully convey.
