"Chobi rugs represent a modern revival of ancient Central Asian and Persian weaving traditions, inspired by the legendary Ziegler carpets produced in the late 19th century for Western markets. The word "Chobi" means "wood" in Dari, referring to the exclusive use of vegetable dyes extracted from natural plant sources including pomegranate rinds, indigo, madder root, walnut husks, and other botanical materials."
