Kashan Classic Medallion Ivory

Kashan, situated in the high desert of Isfahan Province, stands as one of the supreme weaving centres of the Persian world, its workshops historically supplying court carpets to the Safavid dynasty and later producing the benchmark against which all classical Persian floral rugs are measured.

This hand-knotted wool carpet presents the quintessential Kashan vocabulary in immaculate new condition: an elongated central medallion in navy and dusty rose anchors a cream ivory field saturated with tightly controlled curvilinear vine scrollwork bearing palmette rosettes, open lotus blossoms, and split-leaf arabesques rendered in a restrained palette of antique gold, sage green, and burgundy against the luminous ground.

Pendant cartouches extend the medallion toward both terminals, while quarter-spandrels of matching ornament fill the upper and lower corners with characteristic Kashan precision. The main border deploys the signature repeating palmette-and-arabesque sequence between fine meander guard stripes, the ivory field of the border maintaining chromatic unity with the interior. At 137×219 cm this piece occupies the disciplined middle ground between accent and room-defining carpet, its pale ground and classical symmetry conferring a quality of restrained formal elegance that reads as equally at home in a collector's study as beneath a dining arrangement.
