Kashan Medallion Ivory Blue

Kashan has stood for five centuries as the pre-eminent centre of Persian court weaving, producing carpets distinguished by their refined draughtsmanship, controlled colour harmony, and the architectural precision of their classical compositions. This hand-knotted wool carpet presents a formal medallion layout on a warm ivory field, the centre occupied by a lobed floral medallion in steel and powder blue with a rosette core, from which dense networks of islimi arabesques, Shah Abbasi palmettes, and scrolling vine tendrils radiate in perfect bilateral symmetry across the open ground; caramel brown accents punctuate the palette with warmth, preventing the cool blues from reading as cold. The multi-guard border system — a principal band of scrolling floral sprays on light blue flanked by narrow navy geometric guards — frames the composition with the measured authority characteristic of the Kashan atelier tradition. Executed in new condition, the pile retains full lustre and structural integrity, and the restrained palette gives the piece a classical composure that anchors formal interiors without dominating them.
