Kashan, nestled in the arid heartland of central Iran, has commanded the summit of Persian court weaving since the Safavid era, its workshops synonymous with technical precision, fine knotting, and the classical floral vocabulary that defines the Persian carpet canon. This 195x290 cm hand-knotted wool carpet presents the quintessential Kashan composition: a restrained central medallion in olive gold and dusty rose anchors an ivory field alive with an uninterrupted all-over arabesque — spiralling vine tendrils, multi-petalled floral rosettes, stylised palmettes, and delicate lancet leaves rendered in navy blue, burnt orange, and muted gold against the warm antique ivory ground. The border architecture is characteristically rigorous, with a commanding main band of reciprocal palmette-and-vine cartouches framed by narrow reciprocal guard stripes, the outermost carrying a simplified floral meander that draws the eye inward.
