Kerman, situated in southeastern Iran, has long been celebrated for producing some of Persia's most refined and finely knotted carpets, distinguished by their elegant curvilinear designs and sophisticated color palettes that have captivated collectors since the Safavid era.
This vintage example presents the classical Mina Khani pattern—a continuous lattice of diamond-shaped compartments formed by sinuous vines connecting repeating floral rosettes—rendered across an extensively abrash ivory field that transitions from warm cream tones at the crown to soft blue-grey undertones toward the base, evidence of natural dye oxidation and decades of graceful wear. The palette remains remarkably restrained: blush pink and taupe palmettes punctuate the composition, while charcoal outlines delineate each motif with quiet precision, and a sage-accented border frames the field with classical scrollwork.
