Moud Herati All-Over Navy
Moud, nestled in the Khorasan province of northeastern Iran, produces some of Persia's most refined interpretations of the celebrated Herati pattern, distinguished by exceptional knot density and a jewel-toned palette that has commanded respect among collectors since the Safavid era. This newly woven example presents a masterfully executed all-over Herati fish design across its generous 299x396 cm field, where diamond-shaped rosettes float within an intricate lattice of curving sickle leaves and delicate palmettes rendered in luminous ivory, warm gold, and rich burgundy against a saturated navy ground that deepens to purple undertones in certain light. The multiple guard borders progress through complementary floral meanders and geometric bands in ascending shades of blue, gold, and coral, framing the field with architectural precision while light blue accents punctuate the composition with unexpected brilliance. A carpet of scholarly sophistication and considerable scale, suited to formal interiors where its hypnotic rhythm and chromatic depth may be fully appreciated.
