This hand-knotted example presents a classic medallion composition on a warm antique ivory field: a richly detailed lobed central medallion in deep aubergine and navy anchors a field alive with Shah Abbasi palmettes, scrolling arabesque vines, and delicate floral sprays rendered in steel blue, madder red, burnt sienna, and gold, with matching ivory-ground corner spandrels that complete the quartered symmetry; the field is contained by a substantial principal border in steel blue carrying a continuous reciprocal lotus-and-palmette meander, itself flanked by narrow geometric guard stripes in ivory and gold, while the outer frame transitions to a deeper madder red ground that grounds the entire palette with quiet authority.
