Tabriz Medallion Floral Ivory

Tabriz, the ancient carpet capital of northwest Iran, has produced the most technically refined and compositionally sophisticated hand-knotted rugs in the Persian canon for over five centuries, its weavers renowned for architectural precision, tightly packed knotting, and an unmatched command of floral arabesque design.

This new wool piece presents a classic Tabriz medallion composition on a warm antique ivory ground: a six-pointed star medallion rendered in caramel and powder blue anchors the field, from which dense arabesques of peonies, rosettes, lotus pendants, and split lancet leaves radiate in a palette of dusty rose, soft crimson, sage green, powder blue, and navy — the tones deliberately muted to evoke the patina of an aged piece without any wear.

The wide ivory main border is populated by a continuous floral vine bearing alternating palmettes and pomegranate blossoms, enclosed by fine navy guard stripes, while the bottom cross-border visible in the image reveals a complementary blush-ground panel with bolder polychrome blooms. At 122x226 cm, this piece carries the measured grandeur of a room anchor — restrained enough for layering, detailed enough to reward prolonged attention.
