Bakhtiari Floral Garden Crimson

The Bakhtiari tribal weavers of the Chahar Mahal region in western Iran are celebrated for their exuberant garden carpets — bold, chromatic, and structurally vigorous — representing one of the most distinctive and collectible traditions in the Persian tribal canon. This hand-knotted wool piece presents a quintessential Bakhtiari garden composition: a densely packed all-over field of large-scale peonies, wild roses, and stylized botanical forms rendered in a characteristically uninhibited polychrome palette of saffron yellow, cobalt blue, soft pink, forest green, and bright orange against a near-black chocolate-brown ground, the whole framed by a wide crimson main border articulated with repeating ivory cartouche panels and sawtooth guard stripes — a border treatment strongly associated with the Chahar Mahal workshops; two bird figures are discernible in the upper field, a folkloric touch consistent with Bakhtiari narrative weaving.
