The Baluch weaving tradition, spanning the borderlands of eastern Iran, western Afghanistan and Pakistan, is among the most distinctive tribal textile inheritances of Central Asia — prized for its bold geometric severity, raw wool warmth, and deeply saturated natural dye palette rooted in centuries of nomadic craft.

This hand-knotted wool piece presents a field of six large stepped diamond lozenges arranged in a vertical column of two, alternating between deep indigo navy and vivid burnt orange, each medallion containing a stylized bilateral bird — likely a totemic eagle form — rendered in contrasting colour with hooked appendages and geometric fill; the ground is an abrash camel-rose, lending an organic warmth that keeps the composition from rigidity.

The main border deploys a characteristic Baluch serrated wave or 'running dog' treatment in navy and orange, framed by narrow reciprocal guard stripes, while small geometric rosettes anchor the field corners.
