The Hamedan weaving district of western Iran represents one of the most prolific and culturally layered tribal traditions in the Persian carpet world, producing robust village rugs distinguished by their saturated madder-red grounds, bold geometric architectonics, and an unfiltered directness of expression that separates them from the courtly workshops of Kashan or Isfahan.
This runner presents a tightly packed all-over field of repeating hooked rosettes and abstracted palmettes rendered in navy, ivory, saffron, and dark brown against an intense crimson ground — a coloration achieved through the region's characteristic use of madder root — anchored at its visual centre by a single stepped lozenge medallion with a cream interior and rust-red geometric core, a motif consistent with the Tuiserkan sub-district vocabulary.
The ivory main border carries a continuous angular vine with leaf pendants, contained within narrow navy guard stripes, while the lower terminal reveals a characteristic arrow-corner treatment in gold and ivory. The pile is dense and the handle firm, consistent with hand-spun village wool construction.
