The looms of Hamedan — one of Iran's oldest and most prolific weaving regions, drawing on centuries of tribal Kurdish and Luri craft tradition — produce runners and scatter rugs distinguished by their robust wool pile, earthy directness, and geometric vitality that larger city workshops rarely replicate.
This hand-knotted wool runner presents a saturated crimson field worked in a tight all-over diamond lattice, each cell populated with stylized rosettes, miniature hooked lozenges, and scattered floral heads rendered in navy, ivory, gold, olive, and cobalt — a palette that reads as both warm and jewel-bright simultaneously; at the vertical center, a single ivory-ground stepped medallion with a cruciform interior device interrupts the repeat with quiet authority, anchoring the composition without overwhelming its tribal rhythm; the main ivory border carries a reciprocal serrated-leaf running vine, flanked by narrow dark guard stripes, and the field terminates at both ends with compressed chevron panels in gold and ivory before the knotted fringe.
