Kazak Medallion Trio Crimson

The Kazak weaving tradition, rooted in the highland villages straddling the Caucasus mountains across Azerbaijan, Armenia, and southern Georgia, is among the most boldly expressive in the Oriental rug canon — prized for its saturated palette, muscular geometry, and totemic medallion forms that carry centuries of tribal symbolism.

This 137x195 cm machine-made wool piece reproduces the classic tri-medallion Karachof Kazak format with considerable fidelity: three large geometric star medallions are aligned vertically along a deeply saturated crimson field, each medallion differentiated by its dominant hue — the uppermost and lowermost rendered in warm gold and ivory with cruciform latch-hook extensions, while the central medallion commands attention in deep navy with ivory and lavender articulation, creating a deliberate tonal hierarchy.

The field is animated by angular arrow motifs, reciprocal chevrons, and scattered small rosettes that prevent the ground from reading as passive. The border system is layered with authority — a narrow sky-blue inner guard stripe of repeat florals gives way to a commanding navy main border populated with stylised hooked cartouches and pinwheel rosettes, finished with an outer reciprocal-scroll guard in red and ivory. The overall hand is assertive and chromatic, carrying the visual weight of a collectible tribal piece while functioning as a durable, accessible floor covering suited to interiors that can absorb strong pattern without apology.
