Isfahan has long occupied the pinnacle of Persian carpet weaving, its workshops producing pieces of extraordinary technical refinement since the Safavid court era of the 16th century — a tradition that endures today in the city's densely knotted wool and silk productions, prized for their crisp drawing and jewel-like palette discipline.

This large-format piece presents a fully developed ogival lattice composition in which pointed cartouches, connected by sinuous arabesque vines, recede across a silver-sage ground in a continuous, self-contained rhythm; within each ogival frame sits a formal palmette medallion of layered ivory and warm gold, surrounded by split-leaf arabesques and fine floral sprays rendered with the precise, controlled linework characteristic of Isfahan draftsmanship.

The palette is deliberately restrained — sage, stone, ivory, and a subdued antique gold — producing a tonal shimmer that shifts between warmth and cool neutrality depending on the angle of light, a quality enhanced by the tight wool pile's natural lustre.
