Heirloom Hand-Knotting
Tied knot by knot in Iran to last for generations.
Isfahan has long occupied the pinnacle of Persian weaving, its ateliers producing work of unrivalled technical refinement since the Safavid court established the city as the empire's artistic capital in the sixteenth century — a legacy that endures in the city's characteristically dense knotting, lustrous wool pile, and architecturally rigorous compositions.
This hand-knotted wool carpet presents a commanding scalloped medallion in deep midnight navy, its interior subdivided into a ring of ivory cartouches enclosing polychrome flowering shrubs, paired peacocks, and slender cypress trees — motifs drawn directly from the classic Persian garden paradise archetype.
The medallion ground is a saturated indigo field animated by fine arabesques and palmette tendrils rendered in steel-blue and dusty rose, while the outer field opens into a warm ivory plane dense with curvilinear vine scrollwork. The wide main border is executed in powder blue and carries repeating vase compositions with full-blown roses and flanking botanical sprays, anchored at each corner by large boteh paisley medallions in the same cool blue register — a border treatment highly characteristic of twentieth-century Isfahan workshop production. Ivory fringe finishes the short ends, and the overall palette — cool blues counterbalanced by warm ivory and accents of gold and sage — gives the piece an uncommon luminosity. A work of considered classical discipline, it carries the meditative gravity of the traditional Persian garden into interior space with quiet, scholarly authority.
Hand-knotted in Iran with pure highland wool and mulberry silk.

Tied knot by knot in Iran to last for generations.

Lanolin-rich wool repels everyday spills and wear.

Highland wool paired with luminous mulberry silk.

Individually sourced from master looms in Tabriz, Isfahan, Kashan, Qum, and Nain—never machine-made or chemically coated.
Pure cotton or silk foundations breathe naturally on timber and marble floors without trapping humidity.
Combed highland wool resists shedding and grows softer and more lustrous with every decade of use.
Months of hand-knotting ensure no two pieces share the exact same tension, border cadence, or abrash depth.
