Kashan, situated in the heart of Iran's Isfahan Province, stands as one of the most venerated weaving centres in the Persian carpet canon, its workshops producing since the Safavid era rugs of exceptional knot density, refined colour discipline, and architectural clarity of design.

This large-format piece presents the quintessential Kashan compositional grammar: a deep midnight-navy field of commanding presence anchored by a centrally placed elongated medallion rendered in graduated sky blue and soft teal, from which dense curvilinear arabesques radiate outward in ivory and saffron gold, filling every register of the ground with palmette rosettes, lotus heads, and sinuous split-leaf scrollwork executed with the precise tension characteristic of high-grade Kashan knotting.

The border system is architecturally layered — a broad main border of light powder blue carries a continuous reciprocating vine punctuated by stylised floral cartouches, flanked by narrow guard stripes of ivory and deep blue that contain the composition with measured formality. The tonal dialogue between the cool teal accents and the warm saffron inflections prevents the dark field from reading as heavy, instead lending the piece a nocturnal luminosity.
