Kerman Shah Abbasi Red

Kerman, situated in southeastern Iran, has produced some of the most refined and technically accomplished carpets in Persian weaving history, distinguished by exceptionally high knot counts, elaborate curvilinear designs, and a sophisticated palette favored by European and American collectors since the late 19th century. This new hand-knotted example presents a luminous madder red field densely populated with Shah Abbasi palmettes, lotus heads, and sinuous arabesque vines executed in ivory, soft gold, and touches of rose pink, creating a rhythmic all-over composition of remarkable depth and movement. The field is embraced by a commanding navy blue main border bearing a classical palmette and vine meander, flanked by ivory guard stripes with delicate reciprocal motifs, while a secondary cream border adds elegant breathing space to the layered framework. A carpet of ceremonial presence and enduring refinement, suited to formal interiors where its intricate draughtsmanship and jewel-toned richness can command proper admiration.
