Nain Medallion Navy

Nain, situated in central Iran's Isfahan province, has earned renown since the mid-twentieth century for producing some of Persia's finest and most refined carpets, distinguished by their exceptional knot density, luminous silk highlights, and restrained elegance that appeals to collectors worldwide. This new example presents a classic sixteen-point starburst medallion rendered in ivory and soft gold, set against a rich navy blue field alive with gracefully curling Shah Abbasi palmettes, lotus blossoms, and acanthus scrollwork in cream, burgundy, and pale blue silk accents that catch the light. The composition extends through quatrefoil pendants along the vertical axis while the field motifs maintain perfect bilateral symmetry. Multiple borders frame the piece—a primary ivory band featuring flowing arabesque vines flanked by narrow blue guard stripes with delicate reciprocal scrollwork. The wool and silk blend imparts both tactile depth and subtle sheen characteristic of superior Nain craftsmanship. A piece of quiet authority and timeless refinement, suited to formal interiors where understated sophistication is paramount.
