Buying a Persian rug in Malaysia

A Persian rug is named for the town or tribe whose designs it carries: Kashan and Isfahan for formal medallions, Tabriz for fine floral detail, Nain for ivory grounds with silk highlights, Bidjar and Hamadan for hard-wearing village weaves. Our Persian collection brings these together with Persian designs hand-knotted in Pakistan and India, so you can compare knot density, wool and price side by side.

Nasim Carpets has sold hand-knotted rugs in Kuala Lumpur since 1989. Each Persian rug comes with a certificate of authenticity, and you can book a free home trial to see it in your own room before you decide.

Questions we’re often asked

How can I tell if a Persian rug is genuinely hand-knotted?

Turn it over. A hand-knotted rug shows the full pattern on the back, with small irregularities from knot to knot, and the fringe is the end of the warp threads rather than a strip sewn on. Machine-made and tufted rugs usually have a canvas or glued backing. Our team will happily show you the difference in the showroom.

Are your Persian rugs made in Iran?

Many are — from Kashan, Tabriz, Nain, Bidjar, Hamadan and other Iranian weaving centres. We also carry classic Persian designs hand-knotted in Pakistan and India, and every listing names its origin so you know exactly what you are buying.

Can I try a rug at home before buying?

Yes. We offer a free, no-obligation home trial across Greater Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Penang, so you can see the rug in your own light and with your own furniture. Stock rugs bought online can also be returned within 14 days of delivery for a full refund.

How do I look after a Persian rug?

Vacuum it regularly without the beater bar, rotate it every six months so it wears and fades evenly, and have it professionally washed every few years. We wash and repair hand-knotted rugs, with free pickup and delivery across Kuala Lumpur.
